Justin Nelson, the Democratic Candidate for Texas Attorney General, Out-Raises Paxton

Statement by Nate Walker, campaign manager for Justin Nelson, Democratic candidate for Texas Attorney General:

“The race is on. Justin Nelson, Democratic candidate for Attorney General, out-raised indicted incumbent Republican Ken Paxton in the six-month reporting period ending December 31st, 2017. This is even more impressive because Nelson raised his campaign funds in the seven weeks following his announcement, whereas Paxton raised his over the full 6-month reporting period.”

According to Twitter posts by members of the Texas Capitol Press, Ken Paxton’s campaign has raised $774,000 in the last six-month reporting period.

“Texans are excited that there is a viable, Democratic opponent to indicted Ken Paxton. Justin Nelson raised in seven weeks, what Paxton raised in six months. We are running a financially competitive campaign.”

Last week Nelson, who has no primary opponent, announced his financial report, will show $911,778 in contributions and pledges for the period ending December 31st. This amount includes $500,000 from the candidate.
