Democratic candidate Justin Nelson spoke Tuesday morning about his bid for Texas attorney general and his plans to fight corruption, protect health plans and combat the opioid crisis.
Nelson met with a roomful of supporters at the Wichita County Democratic Headquarters and told them about his background as a native Texan, lawyer and professor at the University of Texas Law School.
He also listened as several members of the audience shared their concerns about gerrymandering, and the loss of protection of pre-existing condition coverage for health insurance plans.
Nelson delivered a promise to fight corruption and fraud, noting that his opponent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, has been under indictment for securities fraud for three years.
Paxton’s trial has been delayed three times. The attorney general pleaded not guilty to three felony charges of misleading investors before taking office.
